Trade show Season: 3 Seconds to Make an Impact

CHOOSING THE RIGHT DISPLAY:

A trade show display serves as a direct reflection of your company image. You must be able to communicate your message in a matter of seconds.  This window of time is critical to attracting prospects to your booth and maximizing your sales opportunities.  Read on for a list of questions you may answer, to help you determine the exhibit type, size, design, and configuration that best meet your needs.

  • What do you want to accomplish through trade show participation?
  • How do you plan to use your exhibit to meet your objectives?
  • How large are the events in which you plan to participate? Do they attract national, regional or local audiences?.
  • What location type (in-line, corner, end, island) and size of trade show exhibit display space will you reserve?
  • How many events will you participate in annually?
  • What type of image and messages do you need to project with your exhibit display?
  • How much is allocated in your trade show budget to ensure you can meet your company's exhibiting requirements? Your exhibit, banner stands, lighting and accessories can range from a few thousand dollars to more than $50,000+ for a top-end customized display.
  • How will you transport your display to each show?

DESIGN FOR IMPACT:

You have three seconds to make an impression on folks strolling by your display.  Booth graphics for trade show displays and retractable banner stands must be large and bright, while simply and clearly communicating the benefits of your product.
  • Color: The color and tones you choose for your display can help you stand out, as well as convey your message. Cool colors like blue, green and white appear slick and professional, yet may not be strong interest grabbers. Warm colors like red, orange, and yellow attract more attention, yet need to be used selectively because they can be seen as too strong or carry other connotations.  Color Sells!
  • Lighting: Dramatic lighting creates instantaneous attention and attracts customers.
  • Display Size: For smaller displays, choose one strong point to emphasize.  If you will need to convey more information, use a larger display.
  • Text: Too much text on your signs and displays can make your booth look cluttered and even dissuade visitors from stopping. Keep the text as concise as possible and make sure that it is visible from a distance. Text should be placed in the upper half of your trade show stand for maximum visibility.
Be sure that the graphics you use are consistent with those in your promotional literature in order to create a memorable display.
